What Makes The Biggest Difference After 45

I grew up on an organic berry farm. And one of the most vivid memories I carry from childhood is crouching down beside my dad in the middle of winter, spreading rich organic straw around the base of each bush, while he explained something that has never left me.

He told me that winter, the season where on the outside nothing is happening at all, everything looks bare and dormant, is the most important season of all. Because it is what happens underneath during that time of rest that sets up everything that comes in summer.

What that taught me, long before I ever had language for it, is this: nothing in nature blooms all year round. Nothing is meant to. There is a season for laying the groundwork underground where nothing shows yet. There is a season for growth. And there is a season for harvest, for gathering in what all that quiet work has been building toward.

As I have moved through my own seasons of life, that idea has not just stayed with me. It has shaped everything I do. It has shown up in the women's circles I hold, in coaching and counselling, in every room I have sat in holding space for a woman moving through something hard. Nothing worth having grows all at once. It grows in seasons.

Why Change Does Not Happen In A Straight Line

Here is what I see over and over in the women I work with, and honestly in myself too. We treat our own growth like it should just happen. Like if we try hard enough, want it enough, we should be able to go from where we are to where we want to be in a straight line.

But that is not how change actually works. Not in nature, and not in us.

If you are in a season where you are wanting to shift, from feeling flat, disconnected and running on empty, to actually feeling steady in your body again, confident again, like yourself again, I want to walk you through the three things I have seen, again and again, actually move the needle. Not a hundred small tips. The three foundational things. In the right order.

The First Pillar: Wellness

The first one is wellness. And I do not mean wellness as in another routine to add to your list, another thing to get right. I mean wellness as the foundation everything else gets built on. How you are sleeping. How you are moving. How you are actually nourishing yourself, not just feeding yourself.

This has to come first. You cannot mindset your way out of a body that is running on empty. You cannot think positive your way past a nervous system that is depleted. I see it time and time again. Women come to me having tried to start with willpower, with discipline, with just try harder. And it does not work, not because they are not trying hard enough, but because they are building on ground that has not been laid yet.

Wellness first. Not perfect. Not everything at once. Just the actual foundation, sleep, movement and nourishment, in place enough that your body has the capacity to do the next part.

The Second Pillar: Mindset

Once that foundation is there, the second thing that makes the biggest difference is mindset.

This is where a lot of us get stuck, not because we do not know what we should think, but because insight alone does not create change if your body does not have the capacity to hold it yet. That is why mindset comes second, not first. It is not that it does not matter. It is that it cannot actually stick until wellness has given you somewhere to stand.

Mindset, done wholly, is not about forcing positivity. It is about the stories you are telling yourself about this season of your life. Whether you are believing I am too old for this now, or this is just what happens, versus believing this is actually a season you get to move through with agency. That shift, from passenger to participant, changes everything.

The Third Pillar: Meaning

The third thing, the one that gets talked about the least but perhaps matters the most, is meaning.

Because you can have the wellness piece sorted. You can have shifted your mindset. But if you do not know what any of it is actually for, what you are doing this for, who you are becoming, what this next chapter is actually in service of, it does not last. Meaning is what makes the change stick instead of just becoming another thing you did for a while and then let slide.

Meaning is the harvest. It is the part where all that quiet work finally means something.

Wellness. Mindset. Meaning. These are not just three nice ideas. This is the sequence I have seen create real, lasting change in women's lives, over and over again. And it is exactly why inside Season of Her we move through three seasons across twelve weeks, built on purpose around these three things in this order. Not because it sounds nice, but because this is genuinely the sequence that works.

A Gentle Invitation

If any part of this has been speaking to you, if you have been sitting with wanting to feel steady in your body again, wanting to feel like yourself again, I want you to know that today is the final day of Early Bird pricing for Round 3 of Season of Her. We begin on September 8th, and this is the last episode before doors close on September 7th.

If this is you, please do not let it be something you meant to look into. The link is below and I am always available in DMs if you have questions.

I hope to see you on the inside.

Nothing worth having grows all at once. But it does grow. One season at a time.
